How Australian Businesses Use eWAY Through Hykmah
Real scenarios from Australian businesses using eWAY for payments within Hykmah.
Recuron + eWAY for Subscription Direct Debit Recurring subscription billing with Australian direct debit
Challenge: A subscription business wants to collect recurring payments via direct debit from Australian customers, with failed payment retry logic and dunning automation.
Solution: Recuron manages the subscription lifecycle — plans, trials, billing cycles — and uses eWAY as the payment processor for both credit card tokenisation and BECS direct debit collection from Australian bank accounts.
Sellwise Online Store Payments E-commerce checkout with Australian gateway
Challenge: An online retailer wants to accept credit card payments on their Sellwise store using an Australian gateway with local merchant acquiring rates.
Solution: eWAY configured as the payment gateway for the Sellwise checkout. Customers pay via credit or debit card. Tokenised cards stored for repeat customers. All transactions reconcile automatically in Hykmah.
B2B Invoice Payment via Orderlink B2B customers paying invoices online via card or direct debit
Challenge: B2B customers using Orderlink want to pay invoices online via credit card or direct debit rather than EFT with manual remittance matching.
Solution: Orderlink invoices include an eWAY-powered pay-now link. B2B customers pay by card or direct debit. Hykmah marks the invoice as paid automatically and updates the customer account balance.
Australian-Native Payment Processing for Every Workflow
eWAY is Australian-owned and operated — built specifically for the Australian market with BECS Direct Debit, Australian acquiring, and local support in AEST hours.
BECS Direct Debit for Australian Recurring Payments
Collect subscription and recurring payments directly from Australian bank accounts via BECS Direct Debit. Bank account details stored as eWAY tokens — no raw BSB or account numbers stored in Hykmah. Mandate management, debit retries, and failure handling built in.
Recuron + eWAY — Full Subscription Lifecycle
Recuron manages subscription plans, billing cycles, and dunning logic. eWAY handles the payment collection. Failed payments trigger Recuron's automated dunning sequences using eWAY retry logic. No staff involvement required for routine billing cycles.
eWAY Beagle Fraud Protection
eWAY Beagle fraud scoring runs automatically on every transaction. Hykmah receives the fraud score and applies your configured rules — automatically block high-risk transactions, flag medium-risk for manual review, or allow with logging. Configurable thresholds per business risk profile.
Australian Support in AEST Hours
Unlike international gateways, eWAY provides local Australian support during AEST business hours. Settlements in AUD with AEST timestamps throughout Hykmah transaction records.
eWAY integration is included in all Hykmah plans — no per-transaction integration fee. eWAY's standard transaction fees apply per payment processed.

How the Integration Works
Payment Initiated in Hykmah
A customer completes checkout in Sellwise, an invoice is due in Orderlink, or a Recuron subscription billing cycle triggers. Hykmah sends the payment request to eWAY with the customer's token or bank account details.
eWAY Processes and Responds
eWAY handles card authorisation or BECS direct debit collection. Fraud scoring runs automatically. eWAY returns an approved or declined response to Hykmah within seconds.
Hykmah Updates Records
On approval: Hykmah marks the order, invoice, or subscription as paid, generates a GST receipt, and logs the transaction. On decline: Recuron dunning triggers for subscriptions; Orderlink flags the invoice for follow-up.

Common Issues & Solutions
Payments declining unexpectedly
Card expired, insufficient funds, or eWAY Beagle fraud block.
Fix: Check eWAY response codes in Hykmah's payment log at Settings → Payments → Transaction Log. For Beagle blocks, review fraud threshold settings at Settings → Integrations → eWAY → Fraud. Adjust thresholds if legitimate transactions are being blocked.
Direct debit transactions not processing
BECS Direct Debit not enabled on eWAY merchant account, or bank account token invalid.
Fix: Confirm BECS Direct Debit is enabled on your eWAY merchant account — contact eWAY if unsure. Check the bank account token is valid in the customer record. Note that BECS direct debit typically settles in 3 business days.
Recurring billing not triggering on schedule
Recuron subscription not in Active state, next billing date incorrect, or customer payment method expired.
Fix: Check the Recuron subscription status in Hykmah — verify it is Active and the next billing date is correct. Check the customer's payment method is valid and not expired. Review the Recuron billing log for failed attempt records.
Settlement figures not matching eWAY portal
Hykmah pulls settlement data from eWAY daily — allow up to 24 hours for settlement records to sync.
Fix: Allow up to 24 hours for settlement records to appear in Hykmah. For persistent discrepancies, compare individual transaction IDs between Hykmah's payment log and the eWAY transactions report to identify unmatched records.
